Here’s another great ukulele journey blog to check out.
Be sure to click here and have a browse on Joey’s blog. She’s an active and very enthusiastic member of the Ukulele Underground forums and yeah, maybe I’m just a little jealous of her growing uke collection (and ukulele t-shirts to match). Happy strumming!
A little more ukulele in the news this week as the dating website match dot com launches it’s latest advertising campaign titled… Ukulele! According to the press release it’s aim is to build on the success of thier last “Piano” campaign. So here you go peeps, something we uke folk already knew: ukulele equals romance!
Warning: This post has NOTHING to do with ukuleles… Now that I’ve got that out of the way, one of my all time favorite bands in the cosmos, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, are releasing a new album next month!
It’s their first studio release since 2006 and their first with new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer after parting ways (again) with the legendary John Frusciante.
The music of the Chili Peppers has been with me since childhood, starting way back with Blood Sugar Sex Magik in 1991 when I was still in primary school. This got me into their earlier work (Uplift Mofo is still one of my favorites) and lead to me being hooked for life!
The latest album, titled I’m With You and is due for release August 30th.
The debut single is going to be The Adventures of Raindance Maggie and has already been leaked to the public by several music websites.
Into The Wild: I recently re-watched this movie and I still stand by it being one of those movies that you just HAVE to see.
It is just so beautifully epic in every way, capturing the amazing journey of one man following his dreams and turning his back on modern society. It also features a moving soundtrack by Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder.
If you haven’t seen it, then click here to watch the trailer on YouTube.
“After graduating from Emory University, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless abandons his possessions, gives his entire $24,000 savings account to charity and hitchhikes to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters a series of characters that shape his life.”
Three girls, singing, playing fruit themed ukuleles. Sound interesting? Then you should most definately check out the Fruity Ukuladies on YouTube, they’re relatively new but already have some great uke cover songs up. My favorite so far is their rendition of Queen’s Fat Bottomed Girls (one of my favorite tunes to play on my uke). Check it out…
