Chords: Raindance Maggie

To coincide with the release of the latest Red Hot Chili Peppers album, I thought I’d throw up the chords for their first single. The Adventures of Raindance Maggie and the album, I’m With You are available everywhere now.

The Adventures of Raindance Maggie

Em                                   C
Lip stick junkie be funky all he want
     Em                                     C
She came back wearing a smile
     Em                                                  C
Look-alike, someone drug me they wanted to unplug me
Em                           C
No one here is on trial, it’s just a turnaround

Of course it doesn’t sound as punchy without Flea’s pumping bassline but it’s cool all the same. Anthony’s new 70’s pornstar ‘tache and the music video can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtBbinpK5XI

What do you come up with when combining the ukulele with some seriously creative cooking skills? Well, this:

Mini chocolate dipped ukulele shortbreads! 🙂

Head on over to Diamonds For Desert for loads more photos and of course the all important recipe and instructions. Amazing! There’s many more mouth watering treats on the blog. I especially like the look of the Domokun Oreos!

The ukulele’s Hawaiian birthday!

Today in history: Back on this day in 1879, the Portugese ship SS Ravenscrag arrived in the little island of Hawaii carrying the immigrants Joao Fernandes, Augusto Dias, Jose do Espirito Santo and Manuel Nunes.

Nothing out of the ordinary, except on this occasion, they were carrying with them a little known four stringed instrument, the ukulele. Historically, these men are considered to have introduced the humble ukulele to Hawaii and it’s people!

So there you go, a happy Hawaiian birthday to the mighty ukulele!

Lefty Uke Tips #02

If you’re a lefty and you’ve chosen to swap the strings over on your uke, you’re probably after a flipped chord chart as well. It’s much easier than looking at right handed chord chards and trying to work out the opposite fingering!

Jani Lane found dead in hotel

Well it’s a sad, sad day for glam rock fans as Jani Lane, the ex lead singer of Warrant, has reportedly been found dead in his hotel room.

Jani, aged 47, was the lead man for Warrant from 1986 until 1992 when he left to pursue a solo career. The band are most recognised for their hit, Cherry Pie way back in 1989. No cause of death has been released yet.

The Duke of Uke saved!

A while back I blogged about how the Duke of Uke was in danger of closing for good unless it could find a new location. Backed by their fans, they sold t-shirts and held fundraisers in order to try and stay open. Now thanks to the support of the London uking community they have managed to find a new store front! The brand new Duke of Uke store is now open at:

88 Cheshire Street
London, E2 6EH
